<body-html>
Is Eat Drink Talk the right place for me?

If you are enthusiastic about food and want to learn how to cook some interesting dishes with only the best and freshest ingredients that London has to offer then you’ll love a class at Eat Drink Talk. If you want to be in corporate and formal setting where you will wear a name tag and a silly hat then Eat Drink Talk may not be for you. We believe that with a little instruction anyone can be a great cook, and we provide a warm and friendly environment where you’ll not just learn to cook but you’ll have fun while doing it.

How does a class at Eat Drink Talk work and how much cooking will I do?

The format of the class is ‘participation’ which means that everyone is involved in preparing the food. This can include anything from pounding ingredients for a curry paste, making and rolling out dough, to chopping up ingredients and grinding up spices. In addition, we also do a few tasting sessions in each class which could include anything from a tasting of different olive oils or varieties of sea salt.

Due to the configuration of space in our kitchen – it is not possible for students to physically stand at the stove or oven during class and cook, however we aim to make any demonstration aspects of the class as clear and visible as possible so that students can easily watch what is happening.

We try to keep the classes as interactive as possible, but the atmosphere is also quite relaxed and fun. Most people have a great time with us and we have received lots of wonderful feedback from former guests.

How long does a class last and what do I need to bring?

All of our classes are a single session and last from 2.5 to 3 hours. See our class schedule for specific timings for each class.

Each class includes all the materials, equipment, recipe binders, and of course all the food that we prepare in class including a cocktail. We typically make 4-5 dishes in the class as well as a dessert and there is always lots for everyone to eat, people tend to hobble away from the table afterwards!

What kind of people come to your classes?

We get a huge range of people attending classes with us. We have had everyone from politicians, actresses, opera singers, butlers, lawyers, students and even the occasional fireman! The main quality our guests have in common is an enthusiasm for food and cooking!

We are always delighted to have visitors from overseas and regularly have tourists from the USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan and Singapore join us for classes.

Our classes are also popular with visiting cooks, chefs and caterers looking to get some new ideas or learn about a new cuisine.

What if I am a complete novice and can hardly boil water?

All classes at Eat Drink Talk are suitable for beginners and a great place to get started on the right foot. We also believe that if you want to start doing more cooking, it’s great to start with a style of food or a cuisine that you really enjoy eating when you go out such as Thai or Italian to encourage you to keep cooking after the class.

We plan all our classes carefully so that things feel relaxed and comfortable for everyone. We understand that it can be very intimidating feeling like you have to do things perfectly or are being assessed by everyone. Many novice cooks have really enjoyed their classes here and learned a lot of things that they can put into practice at home.

Can I come alone or do most people come in pairs?

Many people come to Eat Drink Talk classes by themselves and love the informal and friendly atmosphere they find in our kitchen. Sometimes students have such a good time together that they exchange phone numbers and arrange to meet up in another class!

I really want to come to your XX class but I don’t like/am allergic to XX (i.e. prawns, tomatoes, etc). Can you substitute something for me?

Regretfully it isn’t possible to make personal substitutions for ingredients, however there are usually other dishes in the class which you may be able to enjoy with everyone else if you decided to come along.

Do you hold private classes?

Yes, in fact there’s nothing we enjoy more than hosting a group of foodie friends who want to spend an evening making and eating some delicious new recipes. See our Private and Tailor Made Classes section for more details or email us to see some menu ideas.

We can also arrange for special programmes for small groups of up to 6 people who would like to spend a few hours or days out in London. We would love to show you all the great foods, markets and artisan producers that we have here in London, or at least as much as we can pack in in a few hours or days.

Do you do corporate and team building events?

Yes, we can take groups of up to 8 people. We have held classes for many companies including UBS, Essentials Magazine, Glaxo Smith Kline and Google. If you want to come and enjoy a fun session relaxing with your colleagues and learning to cook some new things, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

I don’t have a paypal account. Is there another way that I can pay for my class or gift voucher?

You do not need a paypal account to book a class with us. Within paypal, on the bottom of the payment screen you’ll see the option ‘Don’t have a paypal account?’. Be sure to include your email address so that we can send you a receipt.

I cannot make the date of the class that I booked. Can I reschedule?

Once a class booking is made, no cancellations or changes are permitted. If you cannot attend a class you are however welcome to send someone in your place.

How long are your gift vouchers valid for?

Our cash value gift vouchers are valid for six months from the date of purchase. Vouchers purchased for a specific class are valid for date of the class.
</body-html>
